Machu Picchu

Chop etilgan: 17.07.2023

Arrived in Cusco, the first thing I had to do was attend a briefing for my hike to Machu Picchu, which lasted 2 days. When I saw the plan, I wasn't so sure anymore if I really wanted to do it. Because due to the altitude, I couldn't even climb the stairs in the hostel without taking a break.

The next morning we started very early. I was picked up by the bus at 4 a.m., which took me and my group to the Machu Picchu train station.

This train took us about 1 hour to a stop in the middle of the forest, where we were told that we had to hike the rest. We also had breakfast on the train and got to know the group better.

We got ready, made a last WC stop, and then the hike on the Inca Trail began. It was still cool and I was still tired as I listened to the guide's stories about the Inca ruins.

As the sun slowly rose, it quickly became very hot. The steep uphill path became more and more strenuous.

Thx to brandon for the good entertainment

We took breaks to drink, which were much needed. After a few hours of hiking, we arrived at a place where we could have our lunch. The quinoa salad provided by the provider was delicious.

With a full stomach and new strength, we continued up the mountain. Passing waterfalls and various tropical plants.

Suddenly we came across an Inca plantation where alpacas were peacefully grazing. We climbed the stairs and passed so close to the alpacas. They are so cute.

After almost 6 hours of hiking, we finally had our destination in sight. It wasn't far anymore, you could already see Machu Picchu in the distance.

Having left the last section behind, we arrived at the wonder. It looked just like in the pictures. Simply wonderful.

Many impressions and pictures later, we took the bus to the small town where our hotel was located. After a refreshing shower, we all went to eat together.

Once again, it started too early. Breakfast and departure, back to Machu Picchu, early enough before the sun rises.

We watched the sunrise while eagerly listening to the guide's stories about the ancient history of the ruins.

We followed the footsteps of the Incas and strolled through the ancient buildings.

It was impressive how everything was built and what sense the various paths and rooms had.

When I finally returned to the hostel after a long journey, I fell into bed so tired. But it was definitely worth it. All the effort. This was definitely a highlight of my trip.
