On Wednesday, after returning late from Disneyland on Tuesday night, we treated ourselves to a day off, which we spent with a breakfast from the Boulangerie in Parc de Bercy after getting some rest. We could have gone somewhere else, but the outside temperatures... Nonetheless, the first highlight of the day was a ride on an electric scooter, which there are plenty of in Paris.
In the park, we saw big fish and turtles in the ponds, as well as many ducks ('quack quack'), cheeky coots, and a heron (and of course, pigeons, sparrows, and blackbirds). Not only did we find it very cozy there and relaxed in the shade, under the observation of the ducks and coots. One of them was just as curious as a New Zealand weka, it was very interested in our food bag and circled us at a distance of less than an arm's length.
After cooling down with an ice cream and a cafe glacé in a cafe, we decided to visit the nearby Musée des Arts Forains. In a 1 1/2 hour guided tour, you could admire all sorts of finds from the past centuries related to funfairs. We also got to participate in a horse derby, take a ride on a carousel from 1880, and have a thrilling ride on a bicycle carousel. In the latter, which was the last of its kind in the world, about 20 people sat on bicycles in a circle, and then everyone was allowed to pedal! It could go as fast as 60 km/h. We had to hold on tight, the centrifugal forces were quite strong!
After this adventure, we ended up in the Bercy Village Passage, where we devoured delicious burgers. We spent the evening relaxed on a bridge over the Seine and enjoyed the sunset (yeah yeah, very romantic).
