Buenos Aires

Chop etilgan: 28.02.2018

For a week now we have been in Buenos Aires, on Saturday we moved into our hostel where we had already lived 8 years ago. It is located in the middle of a pedestrian zone, it is noisy, but unbeatably cheap. There is football playing in the common area day and night, it is unbelievable what the Argentinians watch all day, terrible games. It is not 15 degrees anymore, but almost 30 degrees, a real change. That's why we took it slowly.

On Sunday we visited the flea market and the tango district in San Telmo. We simply enjoyed sitting in the shade and listening to the music.

Yesterday we took part in the city tour with the most important buildings and squares. The tour started at the traditional Café Tortoni, it is really beautiful. When the guide Nicolas appeared, he immediately said to Sandra that he knew her. We thought it was just a line, he probably says that to someone in every group. But what can we say: we actually knew each other!!! He gave a tour to Evita Perón, etc. 8 years ago, which we attended. We deconstructed it again, but it was really him! Everything is true, the world is smaller than a village. Nicolas is a great guide, lively, funny, knowledgeable. That was the highlight of yesterday.

And today we visited the Teatro Colon. We caught the guided tour at 2 PM and it was really worth it. The theater is actually an opera house, always among the top 5 houses in the world in terms of acoustics. In recent years it has been extensively and carefully renovated. According to the guide: it is the second largest opera house after the MET in New York, with 3500 seats, it is always sold out. Many Argentinians have Italian roots and still love the opera. Since there are about 1000 standing places, people with low income can also see operas, concerts, and ballets. Prices range from about 3 euros to about 200 euros. The audience ranks go up 7 floors. The inside of the house looks like a French castle. The Argentine money aristocracy with European roots considered it the least appropriate to meet in such an ambience.
