After a leisurely morning, it's off to the Glass House Mountains. The “mountains” are located in the hinterland of Queensland. We are thrilled by the nature away from the coast and enjoy the drive. Just as we arrive at the parking lot, which is the starting point of our hike, it starts to rain. We lie down in the camper and wait for the heaviest rain to pass. When we think the worst is over, we put on our hiking shoes and set off. After a few minutes, it starts pouring down and we spontaneously decide to take the circular route, as it seems much less dangerous in this weather than the path to the summit. A little annoyed (see photo) by the weather and the somewhat boring path, we decide to make a “powerwalk” out of the rest of the track. We quickly cover the remaining distance and change into dry clothes.
Back in the car, we head back towards the coast. But before we reach the highway, we pass by some roadside stands and buy fruits and vegetables.
The rest of the day is rather uneventful. We drive towards Rainbow Beach and reach one of the many free campsites in the area. Once again, we are delighted with the value for money of Australian campsites, cook a vegetable pan, read, and go to sleep.
