Mosskogar Camping - Nationalpark Thingvellir - Kerid Crater - Geysir Strokkur - Gullfoss Waterfall - F 35 bis Hveravellir hot spring

September 17th, 2023: A day full of exciting impressions, very different landscapes and weather conditions: the first stop is at the Kerid volcanic crater with its special red rock. We continue to Thingvellir National Park, where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet, which is clearly visible through the canyons and trenches on dry land. After the geyser we next marvel at one, no: THE waterfall: Gullfoss, really impressive. But at the end comes the real highlight of this day: between two glaciers we drive on the F 35 (with the F 550 the only F road that non-4x4 cars are allowed to drive on) through a unique landscape. The road conditions are also unique and demand a lot from the driver and the car. We finally arrive at Hveravellir Camping around dusk. It is located in a beautiful geothermal area, including a really hot pool - around 100°, it doesn't work without adding cold water.
