Farewell from Brisbane

Hello my dears!

We haven't been in touch for a while, but since our journey continues, we want to tell you how it came about, as we actually wanted to work in Brisbane.

As some of you know, after a long and unsuccessful job search in cafes, restaurants, and hotels, we unexpectedly got lucky and found a job with a paintball company. We were supposed to sell paintball tickets on the street and in shopping centers. I (Sarah) did it for a day, and Maren lasted two days, after which we both quit again. We would have had to work for over 10 hours, and we wouldn't have been reimbursed for public transportation to our respective sales booth. Since we didn't receive a fixed hourly wage but were only paid per ticket sold, it didn't add up in the end.

So today we are making our way back to Sydney with two stops in Surfers Paradise and Byron Bay. We're not too happy about it because we already feel very at home in Brisbane, but the job search takes precedence, and the chances in Sydney are simply better. We have already applied for jobs in Sydney from here, so on Tuesday we will have our first job interview at a hotel - we'll let you know how it went and tell you about Surfers Paradise and Byron Bay as well.
