I am a big fan of Wales! It all started in 2004 when I went to Llandudno, Conwy Castle with Sophie and her parents, and then on the way back to Bolton in Chester. The people are very relaxed, we had amazing weather in January back then, discovered the first palm trees, and said that we will come back.
I put that into action with Christian in 2011, back then we were in Fishguard and had a great time with beautiful hikes around Fishguard, St. Davids, and other places. We even made a Harry Potter homage to Dobby and went to Freshwater West Beach.
This time Wales was a little different, partly because I chose a very touristy campsite for the stopover. Then the drizzle weather came, making hikes in the Black Mountains impossible. We were at the market day in Abergavenny, which was also nice, but not a little tour with the dogs.
BUT Wales can also be different, because on the way to the ferry to Ireland, we stopped at the rocks of Wolf's Castle Station and finally experienced ferns, heather, gorse, brambles, and co in Wales, just like in Fishguard on the Coastal Path. It was gigantic!
The guardian of the rocks was barked at by Loki because the god of mischief was startled, but otherwise it was amazing!
Afterwards, the ferry ride was only a formality, the view of the bays around Fishguard was gigantic, and the temperatures of 22 degrees were much more than we had before!
We are leaving Wales, but we will be back in 4 weeks! I'm looking forward to the new experience of Ireland and also to the Welsh Anglesey and the long beaches.
