Located 4 hours from São Paulo is Ilhabela - the beautiful island. Only the west coast is really developed, the rest is jungle! On the west coast are beautiful sandy beaches that can only be reached by boat or jeep. We also made our way to this insider tip. We left São Paulo early in the morning, and at 10 o'clock we arrived and could immediately take the ferry. Since it was already a bit late for a tour, we took the bus to Juliano Beach (east coast). The water was warm and calm, the beach beautiful and quite empty. We spent the rest of the day in the sun - then we had to run away from the mosquitoes! Unfortunately, there are quite a lot of them here on the beaches and the bites are big and bloody! In the room, we also noticed that we were completely covered in red dots...
But tomorrow we have a tour planned, a jeep tour to Castelhanos Beach. On the way, you drive through the rainforest and past waterfalls. The beach itself is beautiful - a real pirate beach. White sand, high waves, and jungle in the background. There's hardly anyone here either (most of the few visitors are sitting in a tourist restaurant and never enter the sea - for some reason!). We naturally throw ourselves into the waves again, even if they are really high, and then enjoy the sun. An absolutely successful trip. Unfortunately, we have to go back by bus in the evening because tomorrow we're heading to Salvador!
