Von Zeitlofs nach Rieneck

At the beginning yesterday, there was a steep incline for kilometers into the hills. It was warm and humid. Then I went through the forest for a long time.

At some point, in the middle of the forest, there is a structure that looks like a bridge, but its significance is not clear to me at first. Then I pass by a signboard. It is a highway that was started during the Nazi era but was never completed (between Bad Hersfeld and Würzburg). The work was stopped with the outbreak of war. Today, you can find overgrown structures in the forest.

Towards the end, it becomes difficult and strenuous. Some paths designated as paths in my navigation app do not continue and end in thickets. As a result, my route is extended by 5 km. I arrive in Rieneck quite tired.

The insight of the day: Do not rely solely on technology, but always trust your instincts as well. Being able to orient yourself is very helpful in the forest 😂.

My word of the day: cross-country.
