#3 Flight and Arrival

Our plane departed from Frankfurt via Bangkok to Perth on 25.08.2018 at 2:45 pm. We arrived at the airport about 3 hours earlier to have a glass of champagne with friends and family. The goodbye was much harder than expected. Where there was anticipation in the morning, there was only heartbreak and many tears shortly before departure. But that's just part of it.

We first flew for about 11 hours with Thai Airways to Bangkok. Neither of us had ever flown for so long before, but it wasn't bad at all. The onboard service was outstanding - we received a total of 4 meals and regular drinks and snacks in between. In addition, each of us had a personal screen in front of us on which we could choose from various movies, series, and games.

In Bangkok, we had a transfer time of 55 minutes, which in hindsight was quite short. We had to run a few hundred meters, but we made it to the plane on time. We then flew for another 6 hours to Perth. Already at the airport, we noticed how incredibly friendly and helpful the people in Australia are. We showed a stranger the address of our hostel and promptly found ourselves on the right bus heading to the city center. From there, we took a taxi for another 5 minutes and arrived at the hostel.

And now for the first disappointment. The hostel was praised with various awards on the internet and the pictures looked like they were from a 5-star hotel. Unfortunately, the reality was this:

But who knows, maybe in a few days we will have an even worse place to stay and long for this hostel.
