Dear friends,
completely prepared to be greeted by the sun, our day started rather gloomy. But the prospect of a nice toilet break outside our own four walls finally got me out of bed, or was it the threat of taking away my blanket? In Tegernsee, we had a small breakfast and also had to quickly go shopping for things only mom could think of. Then we were already on the road and could admire the rain from a warm car. Our journey today was actually very beautiful, but my withdrawal from the Alps was extremely noticeable, so I couldn't take my eyes off the incredibly impressive mountains. The mountain peaks occasionally covered with snow-white cotton, lush alpine meadows, and at our first stop: blue-turquoise water. The Achensee reminded me of Iceland today when we sailed into the fjord at dawn. Waterfalls jumping wildly on the steep slopes and low-hanging clouds made everything appear like in a mysterious dreamland.
We drove on too quickly. On the federal road, which was half cut into the rocks and half directly on the slope, you could look into the deep valley all the time and stare at the little Playmobil cows as they had nothing better to do than to eat.
The rest of the way was rather unspectacular, only a tiny traffic jam on the Brenner Pass held us up for a short time before we continued purposefully. In Italy, our first official task was to follow a never-ending mountain road downhill and my adrenaline level only jumped at the thought of racing down this road on a bicycle. But of course, I was brought back down to earth again when my companion pointed out to me that riding back up would probably be just as beautiful.
Our destination today: Sterzing, a small town located in the middle of three converging valleys. Although we didn't take a cable car up to the Rosskopf, we preferred to explore the old town three and a half times, which is really highly recommended. Sweet little shops and hidden green courtyards everywhere, which Papa only discovered by chance. Don't worry, we didn't starve either, at most poisoned, because the porcini mushrooms tasted more like chicken than chicken tasted like fish. 😊
But because I absolutely wanted to see the valley from above, we set off and went up a maximum of forty meters in height to a lookout point. Unfortunately, we couldn't see that fairytale castle from there that I was so looking forward to, but it's not so bad, I took enough pictures in any case.
We can now tick off the most important thing on this whole trip today: relaxing in the sun and almost falling asleep.
See you soon and I will gladly let you hear from me again.
