Dreamy beaches on Phu Quoc

Chop etilgan: 18.12.2017

From the cold of Sapa, we first took a bus to Hanoi and then flew over Ho Chi Minh City to the island of Phu Quoc. Here, we spent the last 3 days of our Vietnam trip relaxing on the beach.

On the first day, we found a nice beach bar in the morning and didn't move from there all day, except to cool off in the sea. Although we were on the main beach of the island, it was not crowded and really great.

On the second day, we wanted to explore some of the other beaches on the island. We took a scooter to the north to Ganh Dau Beach. This is supposed to be one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The problem is that it can only be reached through resorts, as they have taken over the entire beach. Since we hadn't had breakfast yet, we went to a resort where we could eat something and then lie on the beach. Unfortunately, that was not a good decision. The only breakfast available was noodle soup. Actually, it's not a big deal, but then we got instant noodle soup from the supermarket with disgusting-looking beef. That alone was a cheek. To make matters worse, these were also the most expensive soups we had in Vietnam. The beach was also a disappointment. The resort, a relatively expensive one, apparently does not value cleanliness. The beach area was very dirty and half of the resort was still under construction. Only the water there was very nice. However, all the staff were lying in hammocks sleeping instead of doing something useful. We really felt sorry for the guests there.

But we were compensated at the next beach. The way to Vung Bau Beach was a bit difficult, but the beach was very nice. There was also a resort on the beach, which is accessible to everyone, but the beach was very clean. So we spent almost the whole day here.

On the way back, we only stopped at Cua Can Beach. This is not a tourist beach. It is very narrow and still completely untouched, which was really nice.

On the last day, we actually wanted to go snorkeling, so we went all the way to An Thoi in the south. But this was also a disappointment. We took a boat to two small islands. Unfortunately, the water there was not even one meter deep, so snorkeling was not cool. There was also no underwater world there.

Our next destination was Bai Sao Beach, which is considered the most beautiful beach on the island. It wasn't bad there, but unfortunately the water wasn't completely clean and it was very crowded. That's why we went back directly and spent the rest of the day in the same beach bar as on our first day.

In the evening, we went to the night market for dinner. There were relatively exotic things there, like frogs or snakes, which are selected while they are still alive and then grilled. But we skipped that.

All in all, Phu Quoc was very beautiful and the little detour there was definitely worth it, despite the small disappointments. Most of the beaches we saw were really great and you can relax wonderfully in the sun.
