First of all, Happy New Year! From Portugal, the campground 'Aquadulce' is our first stop in Spain. After one day, we are sure that we want to spend the holidays here. It is a relatively small place with few winter residents.
On the way to Seville and Co., we immediately make a reservation for 2 weeks. But that was necessary because the place got quite crowded during Christmas and New Year's Eve. The place is about a minute from the beach, which can be reached directly from the campground through a gate. For Rocky, of course, it's a festival! After a few rainy days, the sun comes out again and on New Year's Eve we are happy about 22 degrees.
Due to the current situation in Spain, we are reducing our trips and spending the holidays quietly at the campground or on the beach, enjoying beautiful sunsets over the sea.
However, we won't miss a short trip to the nearest city of Rota.
Our neighbors opposite are 2 older German couples who have been wintering here for years. From them, we also learn that there is someone on the campground who got the booster vaccination as a tourist. We find out about the procedure for vaccination here in Spain. So shortly after Christmas, we head to the nearest health center. When we arrive, nobody speaks English and a local interprets for us. We are in the wrong place. So we go to the next hospital. It's bustling like a bar. Everyone is on the phone, talking loudly and standing in the corridors. Unfortunately, nobody speaks English here either. The lady at the registration desk asks us, 'what we're wearing', but she actually meant to ask how old we are. We are a bit disappointed and the lady explains to us that currently in Spain, only people aged 60 and above are getting the booster vaccination. Even the German embassy in Madrid or the Foreign Office cannot help us. Since our certificate expires in the next 2 months, we are forced to travel to Germany. Just a quick trip across the border for a shot and then it's back to Spain.
So tomorrow our 'return journey' to Germany along the coast begins.
