After Saigon, we flew further north to Na Dang. Nearby is a beautiful town called Hoi An. The tranquil place is characterized by influences from Japan, China, and of course Vietnam. Many houses and objects are world heritage sites, most likely unique. It is nicely located on a river, where life also takes place all around. You can spend a nice time here, there are good restaurants, a narrow, bustling market, and countless shopping opportunities. In the evening, the area around the river is traffic-calmed, which proves to be invaluable in Vietnam.
We have spent a few very nice days here and celebrated the new year for the second time! So once again... Happy New Year! - or simply... Chúc Mục Năm Mới 😊
The Vietnamese New Year festival, or Tet holidays, is the biggest festival in the country and lasts for several days. Hoi An, which is already famous for its silk lanterns, transformed into a sea of lights on the evening of the New Year's Eve. The streets were adorned with many colorful lanterns. Everything was decorated and lit up, and in addition, hundreds of floating candles were floating on the river. Impressive, mystical, romantic... Somehow everything at once.
