Arrival in Georgenberg-Hinterbrünst
This morning we started our tour along the Iron Curtain. We took the train from Metzingen to Stuttgart, from there to Nuremberg and then to Weiden in the Upper Palatinate. A short cycle route of around 30 km followed to get to our first accommodation in Hinterbrünst.
The start was actually planned for two days earlier, again from Hof, but because of a celebration we moved the start by two days and about 120 km further south. It was not possible to do it any other way because of the bookings that had already been made.
The train was surprisingly punctual today, even though the train to Nuremberg was overcrowded. And you have to bring muscles, because the trains and platforms are anything but barrier-free or bike-friendly.
To get to Eurovelo 13 we had to ride about 30 kilometers through the Upper Palatinate towards the Czech border.
We arrived at our accommodation in Hinterbrünst before it was too late. We were still able to take a short walk before dinner.
What can you say about Hinterbrünst? Just this much: if you love solitude, this is the place for you 😉
