After a turbulent and dramatic last night shift, yesterday morning I left the delivery room for almost 5 weeks.
What will it feel like to not have to work for so long in a row? I am very curious and simply ecstatic about a time without the everyday life of the clinic, screaming women, babies (well, maybe I will miss them :-)), the cold, the construction site noise in Stuttgart, and the everyday chores of a household :-D
Yesterday was perfectly planned, but things turned out completely different, which resulted in me waking up this morning with an unpacked bag and a long list of things to do. But you go on vacation to relax, so I tried not to complain and instead packs as quickly and skillfully as possible, which I actually managed 3 minutes before departure... Yes, I will definitely relax and improve ;-)
My sister Anni was my right-hand woman today, she supported me brilliantly, made sandwiches for me, filled my bottle, and ran with me as we had to catch the S-Bahn to the airport. (I only say: Stuttgart HBF 16:30, perfect time to race as fast as possible through thousands of people in a slalom with a 23 kg backpack...). We took the S-Bahn to the airport, where later our father joined us and we had a pretzel together and strolled around.
Then we checked in our luggage, and thanks to a slightly longer compression stocking action in the toilet, I barely made it to my boarding :-) After a short wait in the bus in front of the airplane, we were off. With a small Tuki-Tuki propeller plane, we flew for 45 minutes to Zurich, where I am currently sitting at a large window and writing this entry. Soon, it's time to leave and the overseas flight begins :-) I'm really excited to see what awaits me in Sao Paulo tomorrow (For you, it will be around 2:00 PM).
Until then, I wish everyone a great week, and I'll let you know when I've arrived in Sao Paulo :-D
