Florence 2024 - Day 3

Thursday, July 4, 2024 – Day 3

Rest day, sun, so one-day program: to the pool. Lisa looks for a lounge chair in the garden on the premises and I stay on the terrace with a view of the greenery and a direct view of Castello di Vincigliata .

Every now and then a mini excavator is used, then a small group comes by and is given a tour of the facility, crickets chirp, butterflies flutter around, an ant trail stretches up to the first floor under the roof, Jack barks somewhere...

Life is beautiful.

At 2 we go to the Fattoria restaurant for lunch: “Lo spaccio” and after a coffee we go back to reading. Book recommendation for a lazy day: “The Spaghetti Vongole Diaries” by Stefan Maiwald.

The K's are also in Tuscany at the same time, but near Pisa, and are spending a day at the seaside today like Fanta4. The journey there was too strenuous for us after yesterday's visit to Florence, so we won't see each other again until August in good old Austria.

At 6 a.m. we take a walk through the huge botanical garden with donkeys, horses, chickens, geese, rabbits, cartwheeling peacocks, ostriches, angler saddleback pigs , bees, ... and at 8 a.m. we go to the fish: Il Grande Pescatore , within walking distance.

We had tuna and sea bass tartare, then a portion of pasta with fish ragù and Lisa had a fried octopus. My fried calamari was a bit of a disappointment, but everything else and the location were absolutely fantastic.

Warm summer night, piano-saxophone music in the distance, I enjoy it until 11.
