Stirling Range and Porongurup National Park

ئېلان قىلىندى: 30.10.2016

The next few days we headed west along the coast. At first we made slow progress due to the storm, but then the weather calmed down.

The highlights were the two national parks, both located further inland from the coast. In Stirling Range National Park, we climbed the 1,000-meter-high Toolbrunup and enjoyed the view. The drive on a 40-kilometer dirt road through the mountains there was also breathtaking. The weather gods were also kind to us that day and sent plenty of sunshine.

The attraction in Porongurup National Park is the Castle Rock Walk. Here, a huge granite boulder lies just before the summit. It was a great hike and climb with a ladder, but unfortunately the weather changed again and the view was poor. The park is surrounded by agriculture and many wineries that offer tastings during the day. This prompts the police to diligently conduct alcohol checks. I had the pleasure of being breathalyzed again after more than 20 years. Of course, it was zero.
