April 11-12, 2022: Corinth
F. The infrastructure in Greece for free camping is not always optimal. The places on the coast and inland are all very nice and are rarely checked by the police, but there is often a lack of disposal stations for gray and black water (black water is not a problem for us as we don't have that) and laundromats are very rare to find as well. However, fresh water is very frequently accessible for free in Greece.
In Corinth, we found one of the few laundromats and filled two large washing machines. Thanks to the summery temperatures and lots of sun, we wanted to dry the big items like our bedding on our clothesline instead of the dryer as usual. However, in the evenings, we not only had summery temperatures but also very strong winds. With gusts of up to 70 km/h, the bedding was blowing so strongly that it hung horizontally on the clothesline instead of vertically.
We have been traveling in Europe with the camper for almost six months now, but it has only been a week since we have had real summer with temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius. This makes many things in everyday life easier, as we don't have to build up the complete insulation in the car in the evening, the laundry dries faster, there is no condensation water in the car, and much more. However, there is also a major disadvantage of high temperatures: our wastewater tank starts to ferment and therefore smells like rotten eggs. We have searched many forums on the internet for a simple and quick solution to the problem and have come to the conclusion that we need to completely clean the tank once for an environmentally friendly solution to the problem. This is best done at a campsite, as the complete wastewater tank and thus parts of the bed have to be removed. The right tools are of course on board, so let's get started...
To hinder the fermentation process in the future, we now throw a denture cleaner tablet into the wastewater tank every day. Let's see if that works. If you have a better solution, please let us know.
After the washing and cleaning day, we also visited ancient Corinth and the Corinth canal. Here are some pictures.
