Abwasch with a view

ئېلان قىلىندى: 21.10.2023

October 4th: Wednesday

I'm looking forward to going to bed straight away and listening to the sound of the sea. We already had this background music at dinner and we will also hear it with our first coffee in the morning.

The location of our current campsite (Camping Acapulco in Paula) is truly unique. What could be nicer than listening to the waves, tasting the salt on your lips and feeling the wind in your hair while you wash pots and plates.

We arrived around midday and were lucky to get one of the last parking spaces.

I actually wanted to drive along the Costa Smeralda and spend the day on one of the beautiful beaches there.
Michel quickly fell asleep in the car (thanks to the pumped milk/bottle and the ideal time) and we wanted to take advantage of this and drive to the next spot in a relaxed manner. So we took the direct route to Palau and after 1.5 hours and a bit of traffic we arrived.

The campsite is located directly on the water, has a very small section of its own beach and, within a few minutes' walk, a larger bay with a wide pebble beach.
Since there are no permanent parking spaces here, everyone parks as they please and we managed to get a small but nice spot a little above the beach.

Palau is located very north, which is clearly noticeable in the strength of the wind.

We spent the afternoon in the bay and had to secure our beach shelter well to avoid being blown away.

Michel didn't let that bother him and got his beauty sleep on the beach again.

Sven went snorkeling and was able to read while I looked after the child (and maybe took a little nap myself). I also went swimming myself and I love (!) watching the fish, searching the seabed or simply counting the waves in the sand.

The water is so incredibly clear that even with my less good swimming goggles I can see everything clearly.

In the early evening we made the short journey back because my stomach was slowly making itself known. On vacation - and often at home too - we only eat twice a day because we have a very good breakfast and are both used to long breaks between meals (probably due to work on the ward).

Even though we are in Italy, we found ourselves in the Mexican kitchen this evening: there was Chili sin Carne with Uncle Ben's Rice, ready in no time and very tasty.

And in this square there was even an argument about who got to do the dishes. The attached picture should explain why ;)

A trip to Palau is planned for tomorrow and we are looking forward to lunch in the city like children. There will be antipasti, pizza and gelato and I'm sure we won't be disappointed. I may have already asked Tripadvisor where the best tourist should stay.

We don't yet know when the journey will continue. The coast is beautiful, but the wind is quite strong and with Michel we always try to find shady and windless places.

I didn't plan to mention it, but I'm still waiting to hear back from Heidelberg University and they play a key role in deciding when we have to leave this paradise again. I have to admit that my impatience is growing every day, but the trip distracts me well. I am infinitely grateful to be able to spend so much time together with Michel and Sven and even more grateful for Sven's planned parental leave. There is nothing better for me than starting the day together with my two men. Only Simba is missing, but we have planned him for the next trip.
