Chill in Arequipa

After another slightly arduous 7-hour bus ride, we arrived late in Arequipa, treated ourselves to a midnight snack, and then could hardly sleep due to the party life around the hotel. But that would change after changing rooms and especially because of a 2-day alcohol ban due to a regional election (mandatory voting, sober! 😳). 😎It was just pleasant to be back in a city, with pleasant temperatures of 25-30 degrees Celsius at "only" 2,500 meters above sea level, and there were also a few green areas. Apart from our Death Road tour, I had missed trees 🌳 already. So we could take a breather! Speaking of trees: it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but here all Christmas trees 🎄 are made of plastic. 😃Of course, we took another Free-Walk tour in Arequipa to get to know the city. And not least because Peruvian cuisine was recommended so often, we treated ourselves to some typical dishes such as ceviche, alpaca, or stuffed peppers. And here there are about 3,000 different varieties of potatoes! To let all the food settle a bit, we booked a rafting tour, where we were thoroughly rinsed as expected. On another day trip, we drove to the Colca Valley, where you can see condors... if you get up at 2:30 am. 😩 Well, many hours in a minibus, but when do you ever have this chance?
