We start today at a small lake (Lake Lucille), a bit off-road on the way, and we see very large dragonflies🦟
Next, we head to Brandywine Falls, which drops 70m. Over centuries, the water has carved its way several hundred meters into the riverbed. So the waterfall is now significantly further 'back' than it used to be.
We have breakfast in the truck bed: muesli with fruits, mango, Nutella + honey toasts😊
Then we continue heading north, always on Highway 99.
We stop at Nairn Falls, a zigzag waterfall that has carved itself into the stone. Further down, there are rapids (they awaken our anticipation for rafting!!! 😇)
Past Duffey Lake, we take a lunch break (Best idea of the day!): Mega photo spot, pictures on trees and in the water, view of the lake - tall trees on the left and right, and in the background, the snow-capped mountain! A dream!
Since we made many stops, we drive the remaining 200...250km in one go. First hilly with many inclines, then the landscape suddenly changes and becomes more like a prairie 😅 now it looks more like the USA. In between, several huge ranches make the land green - otherwise, the view is brown. At Cache Creek, our journey on Highway 99 ends, and we turn onto Highway 97 heading east.
Kamloops is situated by an incredibly large lake. We quickly refuel our car and reach our next accommodation by evening - a nice basement apartment. We whip up some microwave pasta and wanted to stroll to the next supermarket... 😊 But outside the door, we meet host John, who finds us so likable that he invites us to his garden😅 John and Sandra are super nice, have 7(!) children - the youngest is turning 18 today. Also, Sandra's brother-in-law Dave is visiting with his wife. We chat comfortably until 11 PM, while Dave and his wife jump in the pool. Meanwhile, John takes a night ride on his e-mountain bike 😅 crazy guy!!! But everyone is super warm-hearted. We receive more great tips for our tour and are told to definitely come back 😇
It’s the end of the day after another amazing day😊
