The cold at night woke me up and I couldn't fall back asleep. In the town at the tourist information, we filled up our water supply and then rented a sandboard. We took turns sliding down the sand dunes. It was so much fun! When we had enough, we drove a bit off-road and had lunch with a great view. Then we continued off-road through sand and over rocks with our four-wheel drive. And then we had a flat tire. Luckily, we had two spare wheels.
We arrived relatively late at the Pinnacles, which we visited. There was also a tour group for whom food was being prepared. Just for fun, we asked if we could join them for a meal. To our surprise, the answer was that we could have the leftovers. So we walked around a bit and then we got a baguette, some chicken, salads, and cake. We were extremely happy and continued driving, looking for a secluded spot for the night, where we enjoyed our meal. Oh, by the way, all that food would normally go to waste, the nice man replied to my question. We also had some wine and played cards. Plus, a piece of the hood broke off. A special souvenir!
