Here are some photos taken during our visit to Etosha National Park (known in the Ovambo language as 'Great White Place').
The national park was established by the German occupiers in 1907, originally covering an area of 10,000 km² and now extending to 20,000 km². The original inhabitants, referred to as 'Bushmen' by the Germans, were largely displaced by the subsequent South African occupation.
During my time in Windhoek at the Legal Assistance Center, I also dealt with the property and compensation claims of the Hai//om people. There is currently a court case underway in this matter: Indigenous peoples - Legal Assistance Centre (lac.org.na)
