Roadtrip Tag 69 / Ayers Rock & Heli Flight

ئېلان قىلىندى: 23.11.2017

In the morning we reached Ayers Rock / Uluru, we could already see this huge rock from the road kilometers before. We bought a 1-3 day visitor ticket for $50. Then we drove to the Aboriginal Cultural Center, where unfortunately photography was not allowed. We learned a lot about the life and culture of the Aborigines. The people living there are very friendly and live their culture. Unfortunately, outside the sacred site (Uluru), you hardly see any Aboriginal people who still live according to this culture. Too many have succumbed to alcohol and drugs. Australians call the sacred site Ayers Rock and the Aboriginal people Uluru.

We set up our tent at the only campsite and refreshed ourselves in the pool. We are no longer used to 38 degrees. In this heat, it is incomprehensible to us how some tourists undertake hikes here.

Shortly before sunset, we were picked up and taken to the airport. Our helicopter flight was about to start and we were already excited. Together with the friendly pilot and 3 other tourists, we flew into the sunset. We flew over the Olgas (more sacred rocks) and then over Ayers Rock. Simply an incredibly exciting and beautiful experience such a helicopter flight. Unfortunately, the 30 minutes of flight were over far too quickly. Completely enthusiastic, we spent the rest of the evening with a glass of wine at the campsite.
