The day starts cloudy in Greymouth, but with a pleasant temperature of 17°C. There isn't much activity at the Pancake Rocks, but unfortunately it is low tide at that time, so not much is happening at the Blowholes.
Next, we visit the Mitchells Gully Goldmine. Here, you can get a glimpse of how gold was mined in this area in the past.
Then we continue to Tauranga Bay with its sea lion colony, which is not visible today, and the Cape Foulwind Lighthouse. A beautiful 7km hike awaits us.
We make another stop at the Buller Gorge Swing Bridge. At 110 meters, it is the longest suspension bridge in New Zealand. After crossing the bridge, there is a small loop trail through the area where you can see the water levels of the Buller River during floods - impressive.
Next, we make a detour to Lake Rotoiti in Nelson Lakes National Park. Here, the thermometer shows 28°C and the sun is uncomfortably bright. However, the water of the lake is crystal clear.
Finally, we arrive at Motueka, where we will be staying for the next three days.
