Day 35 and 36: Kuala Lumpur and Cameron Highlands

ئېلان قىلىندى: 08.03.2024

Kuala Lumpur is really great! What else can you say... There are super modern shopping malls everywhere, not just 5 but maybe 50 all over the city, from super cheap knock-offs to exclusive designer brands, everything is represented here. And the food is also incredibly diverse. Malaysian with Nasi Lemak, Indian in all forms, European, Mexican. You can really get anything. My highlight is the Indian food here, I would have liked to try it more often.

On our third day in KL we take a trip to the Cameron Highlands, the largest tea growing region in Southeast Asia. Also coconut palms and lots of fruit. The bus leaves at 7 a.m. The trip was supposed to take 3 hours, we need five! The journey was a bit the destination. We are in the middle of the tropical rainforest and drive up and down winding roads for hours. The landscape is really beautiful, the small towns with the corrugated iron huts are not so much. Due to the delay, we don't have much time to look anywhere and we're only back in KL at 9 p.m. Quickly eat something and then go to bed. Overall, we would have liked to have spent more time here. Penang, Georgtown, Langkawi, the eastern beaches and Tamaga Negara National Park are also worthwhile destinations. Malaysia is really underestimated as a travel destination.

The next morning we head to Sumatra. A tip if anyone is planning a tour of Indonesia. When flying, make sure that you always stay within the country and do not fly via KL or Singapore. Otherwise you have to pay the visa fees twice. Visa on arrival costs 30 euros per person.
