25.05.2020 - Day 62 - New York City, USA

ئېلان قىلىندى: 26.02.2020

It's raining in New York City! But that didn't stop us from walking several kilometers through Manhattan today. However, we first took the subway to Canal Street because, as is our tradition, we had to visit a Harley Davidson store in NYC. And here too, at least for me, there was a T-shirt.

From the Harley store, we walked to and through Chinatown. But since we had already visited the Chinatowns in Singapore and San Francisco, it wasn't so exciting for us anymore, so we took a coffee break in a very nice café called "Le Pain Quotidien".

And because we were near Ground Zero, we wanted to take a closer look at the "Oculus" again. The Oculus is the subway station of the World Trade Center and from the outside it represents a stylized dove flying away from a child's hand. Quasi as a symbol of peace. However, you have to know that, because both of us didn't recognize it 😎😎. Still a pretty cool station. Right next to it you will find "Century 21", a huge designer outlet where you can get designer clothes and accessories at incredibly low prices on 6 floors. Of course, we had to go in, but we were literally overwhelmed by the size of the building and the mass of goods, so we only bought 2 fragrances and a baseball cap.

Afterwards, we took the "R train" of the subway back to Times Square, where later on we enjoyed our last evening in New York City at a Thai restaurant on 48th Street.

One more thing: Yesterday, Brigitte went to a supermarket to buy some drinks for us. She wanted to buy a beer for herself, but she couldn't because she didn't have an ID with her. Well, I also think that my wife looks much younger than she is, but I would trust her to be at least 21 years old 😂😂. Here in the USA, you have no chance if you don't have an ID. They're really stupid here (well, with the president 🤓). Anyone can buy a gun in this department store, but if you want a beer, they act like it's a big deal. They're crazy, those Americans!
