Finally after four days a warm shower and fresh clothes. Then we went straight to the bus and off to Trujillo. We stayed there for one night, as Trujillo was only meant to be a stopover and we didn't like it that much. Trujillo has a very beautiful Plaza de Armas, but that's about it.
In the afternoon, after our arrival, we took the bus to Huanchaco. A small neighboring town with reed boats right by the sea. But even there, it was rather quiet. On the way to Huanchaco, we passed by "Chan Chan", the oldest "city" in Peru (established in the years 1000-1400 AD). However, it was pretty polluted and in our eyes just a pile of sand, so we decided not to visit. The next day, we wanted to visit "Huaca del Sol y de la Luna", so we took the bus towards "Moche". However, despite Google Maps, we couldn't find the museum😄.
In the evening, we continued by bus to Máncora. Now it was 4 days of 30 degrees, sun, beach and sea. We slept in a small wooden bungalow right by the sea, so we could hear the sea roaring at night. On the first day, as well as on the other three days, we lay in the sun by the sea. But we didn't really go swimming because the waves were quite strong and we were a bit afraid of the crabs. When we got up on Thursday around 10:00 a.m., we were called out on our way to breakfast because there were two whales very close in front of our beach huts.
In the afternoon, we swam with giant sea turtles. At first, we were a little scared because their teeth look scary and touching a turtle feels very unusual and weird. Right at the beginning when we got on the boat, we could spot "tortugas". Really impressive!
Actually, we also wanted to go surfing. However, the waves yesterday were really intimidatingly big, so we decided against it. Originally, I was only standing with my feet in the water, but after a wave came, I ended up in the water up to my chest.
This morning at around 12:00 p.m., we had to check out, but we could still use the beach loungers, as well as the Wi-Fi and showers, for free. At 9:30 p.m., our bus goes to Chiclayo. We're looking forward to the showers in Chiclayo because we've been full of sand for 4 days and sticking from the saltwater. Only saltwater comes out of all showers and faucets in Máncora. For me, it's unimaginable to shower with saltwater for a lifetime because you're always sticky even after showering. Each of us paid 20€ for our accommodation right on the beach with sea view, breakfast, Wi-Fi, free sun loungers, and hammocks for 3 nights. Today, on our last day, we found a small café just around the corner. There we had a crepe today. In my opinion, this crepe made up for about 10 servings of chicken with rice 😄.
