From the city of Comitan, we take a day trip to the El Chiflon waterfalls.
The public Colectivo (minibus) that takes us there is like the expensive tourist shuttle in Guatemala, but with air conditioning. Once again, we feel the luxury of traveling in Mexico compared to Guatemala.
After about 45 minutes drive, we reach El Chiflon, where it is hotter due to the lower elevation.
In the park, we walk uphill past the different waterfalls.
One great thing is that we can also swim here, which is one of the reasons why we decided to come here on our own and not take a tour.
In the approximately 22 degree Celsius turquoise water, we let ourselves float along the current. The perfect refreshment... And probably the best way to end our Central America trip!
