20/10/2019 - Woodlake → Sequoia National Park → Kings Canyon National Park → Yosemite National Park → Curry Village / USA (377 Kilometers)

ئېلان قىلىندى: 06.11.2019

Today ging it started early in the morning because we had a lot of in mind. First the Sequoia and the Kings Canyon National Park. Both are directly adjacent and are managed together. The main attractions of both parks are the huge sequoia trees. Of course we visited the tree that is considered the largest living organism, the General Sherman Tree. It has a diameter of 11 meters and a height of 84 meters. It is not the tallest tree in the world, but the most voluminous. Its age is estimated at about 1,900 to 2,500 years. It wasn't so easy him to get on a complete photo. In Kings Canyon We visited the "Nations Christmas Tree" in the National Park, the General Grant Tree. It is the tree with the greatest width. Whole 12 meters in diameter it measures. 20 people holding hands would be necessary to circle the tree. But not only these two Trees impressed us with their size. Both parks are full of huge sequoia trees, some of which we were even able to walk through.

Then it was already time to move on, because we had booked a stay for the upcoming night directly in Yosemite National Park and had still a few kilometers ahead of us. We made it before sunset dawn and could already enjoy the first great views. Including the landmark of the national park, the Half Dome. A mountain with a characteristic half-dome shape. To climb it you have to cover 25 kilometers of trail and 1500 meters of altitude. bring. We definitely didn't plan to do that. Our goal of the day was Curry Village, where we spent our night. We moved into a fixed tent with a double and two single beds and fortunately a heater, because it was quite cold after sunset. But the most important thing about the tent was the lockable metal box that stood in front of it. In it, like in the car, all food must be stored. In Yosemite National Park there is namely plenty of hungry bears. After darkness had completely enveloped the park we enjoyed the starry sky that was overflowing.
