After the crazy trip to El Torcal, we meet up with an acquaintance from the motorcycle forum in Granada.
Granada? Wasn't that where the Alhambra is? Yes, we would have liked to see it, but an online registration with 14 days in advance, only to be herded through with hundreds of other tourists every half hour? No thanks, we don't want that.
We meet Jürgen, who has arrived by motorcycle, on a rainy Friday afternoon and he tells us about the windmills in La Mancha. The windmills of Don Quijote from Cervantes' story.
That sounds great and since it's very far away, the route should also be interesting.
We drive through the Puerto de las Palomas, a mountain pass road near Cazorla in the Sierra de Cazorla. An incredibly winding road leads along the Tranco Beas reservoir. We find a great spot for the night at a picnic area. In the evening, two Frenchmen on a motorcycle with a tent come by in bad, cold weather, and we treat them to a beer. The next morning, the weather is fantastic and they come back to chat over an espresso.
We drive through an incredibly diverse landscape. In the area of Segura de la Sierra, we find old watchtowers in olive groves that we visit.
