The hike over the rock formation of Kings Canyon is absolutely spectacular. At first, it goes steeply uphill on stone steps, once at the top, you have fantastic views of gorges and the plain. We even encountered a wallaby, but it was difficult to photograph. Maybe you'll spot it in one of the photos... You can still see the wave-like traces that indicate that the entire rock formation was once covered by the sea. We continued to Uluru, better known as Ayers Rock, the most photographed and famous rock in the world... We had some bad luck with the weather because the colors during sunrise were limited due to clouds and it even rained on the second morning. But the sunset made up for it... Finally, we drove the 500 km from Uluru to Alice Springs non-stop, passing by 3 gas stations, one of which was closed. We kept encountering road trains, powerful trucks with 2 long trailers coming towards us. It sure wouldn't be fun to reverse with them...! In the evening, we took a flight to Cairns, the next stop on our journey on the east coast of Australia.stop
