Why not buy a car and drive across Australia?
Said and done!
On August 24th, Manon and I went on the biggest road trip of my trip to Australia so far in our converted car “Steve”.
9,000 km, 6 weeks, one food poisoning and one car breakdown later, we arrived safely in Cairns.
The stops:
- Wilsons Promontory - One of Australia's most beautiful national parks
- Great Ocean Road - Beautiful route including stops along the ocean
- Adelaide - Pleasant "small town" compared to Sydney and Melbourne
- Flinders Ranges - Beautiful mountain range in the hinterland of South Australia
- Coober Pedy - opal town in the middle of nowhere, looks like little but has a lot to offer, highlight: drive in cinema
- Uluru and Kata Tjuta - The big red nothing, beautiful and incredibly impressive
- Kings Canyon - More red mountains in the great outback
- West McDonald Ranges - Wide gorges, cold lakes and gospel concerts right in the mountains
- Alice Springs - An unwanted stop due to said food poisoning and technical breakdown
- Daintree Forest - The oldest rainforest on earth impresses with beautiful forests right on the ocean
- Cairns
