After the last 2 stressful days, it finally starts. You already know how it goes - packing, weighing, and unpacking the suitcase again because the allowed target weight was almost reached, sorry was exceeded. The days before the flight, there is always a certain irritability in the air between Shaahatz and me. I allegedly do unnecessary things like cleaning up and tidying, while Shaahatz, in my eyes, just stares senselessly at his phone. But this has been going on for almost 25 years now, and it doesn't matter which vacation we embark on (whether camping around the corner or traveling to the end of the world). What made it even more difficult this time was that we advertised our car, and what can I say, for months nobody was interested in the car, but just 2 days before the flight, someone contacted us who wants to view the car. So clean up the car and it still needs an inspection. Fits.
But now everything is done, Grandma's 99th birthday celebrated, Leon's gift handed over (congratulations again, dear Leon, and all the best for your 25th birthday), all suitcases are packed, everything is tidy, everything is organized, now we can go.
First leg: with Air France from Hanover to Paris, one and a half hours scheduled for 13:55 - actually 14:40. How could it be different. We are still taking it easy because we originally had 2 hours 40 minutes in Paris to change planes - well, now it's 2 hours, but that should be enough even for Charles-de-Gaulle (one of the largest international airports in Europe, in Paris).
But even in Paris, we have a 30-minute delay, so we can enjoy the 9-minute bus ride from our Hanover flight to the terminal and the 10-minute walk through the futuristic airport
to the gate to the fullest.
11 hours lie ahead of us.
As always, Shaahatz and I took a full risk when booking the seats and booked a window and an aisle seat, hoping that the middle seat would remain free. It has never worked so far - we always had a jerk between us. But sometimes miracles still happen - 'Boarding completed' and seat still free.
