What is this supposed to be?!

Good morning dear ones,

I'm Frieda, a 5'3" bundle of energy who always wears different socks and loves to experience new things.

Two years ago, I left my hometown (the smallest district town in Germany!) and moved to the coast to study. For the first time, I was able to look beyond my horizons, and the 50,000-inhabitant city of Greifswald already seemed like a cosmopolitan city with great cultural diversity to me. From that point on, I knew I wanted more... more of the world, immersing myself in foreign cultures, meeting people, and gaining experiences (and I'm not talking about a two-week Mallorca vacation!).

In addition, I have a great interest in biology, which I have expressed through my studies as a 'human biologist'. Maybe I can combine curiosity for research and wanderlust. That's why I applied to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for an internship abroad aaand *drumroll* it worked out and I'm flying to Chile in 2 weeks.

There, I will be working for 3 months in a laboratory at the Austral University of Chile in Valdivia. This is a provincial capital located on the Pacific in southern Chile, with many sea lions on the beach, where it supposedly rains a lot... My workplace is involved in antibody production in alpacas for vaccines. (Don't worry, no harm will come to these cute animals).

After surviving the Chilean winter there, hopefully spring will slowly arrive and I will travel around the country a bit. Classic backpacker tourist style.

So, if you're interested in fluffy alpacas, Chilean stuff, or reports with flawed Spanish skills, I invite you to check out this blog from time to time. (Maybe not a bad idea for the seemingly 80,000 people who constantly tell me 'send photos and keep in touch, okay?').

See you later
