Today is a lucky day. Berry had to go to the vet to check his blood values. I don't know if the appointment was worse for Berry or for Icke. She couldn't sleep properly two days before, while Berry's stress only started when the door to the practice opened and he smelled the scent. The waiting area formed the center, from which individual treatment rooms branched off. It was extremely busy, but it seemed to bother the different little animals more than their owners. What a lively babble it was! I had the feeling that the vets had to apologize when they picked up their patients, as if to say: "I'm sorry for interrupting, but it's your turn now." Too bad, we had an appointment and didn't have to wait long...
The doctor spoke English about as well as I speak Spanish, but somehow we managed with Icke's support. My sweetheart was also well prepared: she had all the findings and treatment protocols with her and had prepared the most important terms in Spanish. For the examination and blood sampling, we had to go to the waiting room without Berry. A strange feeling. But soon it was all over. We could go for a coffee with Berry and should be back in 30 minutes. That went quickly! In Germany, the analysis of the blood values took longer.
Berry's values were perfect. Icke had to fight back tears. No more cortisone. Berry was healthy again - except for his paw. Whatever had destroyed his blood had lost the battle against the little devil. In October or November, no one would have bet a cent on him. ¡Bien hecho Berry!
The day couldn't have started any better. On our way back, we passed by the tavern where we were supposed to get our gas bottle on Friday. When the innkeeper's son saw us, he waved us in. He pointed to his car: "Propano," he said, beaming. He opened the trunk and two bottles in bright orange shone out. I was allowed to take one out. Such a bottle weighs 25 kilograms, but for me it was no issue at that moment - it only became one on the 300 meters to the motorhome. But now I was really starting to get warmed up. Installed, connected, tested - as if I had never done anything else before.
And when I came home, there was a plate on the table with two pig ears on it.
Oh, how wonderful it would be if there were more days like this.
P.S.: There are a few pictures of our trip to Cape Entinas-Sabinar on Sunday at the top, where there is a lighthouse and a bird sanctuary located between two salt flats.
