Here begins a new adventure of mine. I have decided to walk the Camino de Santiago starting from Seville, which is known as the 'Via de la Plata'. The distance to Santiago is about 900-1000 kilometers. I don’t think I will be able to complete it entirely, but we will see how everything unfolds, how much it rains, and how fast I will be on the road. Last year I walked the Camino Francés in about 3 weeks, covering almost 800 km.
I boarded the flight from Cologne on Sunday, 27th October at 11 am. I was tired because I had not slept much the night before. Additionally, I had worried far too much about my luggage, and I already know a few things I will do differently on my next hike. Correspondingly, I listened to a podcast episode from the Camino podcast about light packing during the flight. And next time, I will really weigh everything. Even a deodorant in a glass bottle compared to plastic makes a difference of 50 grams, and that can add up.
The flight was very relaxed, and it was pleasantly warm in Seville. Upon arrival, I didn’t have to wait for my luggage because I traveled with hand luggage. At the airport, I took a shuttle bus that costs 5€ to the city. Later, I saw that there is even a train that goes to the city as well.
Through all my travels, I am already relaxed when I arrive at new places. I had just saved my hostel's address and headed there. It’s called Black Swan Hostel and cost 23€ per night. I am in a 6-person room and I sleep on the upper bunk. In general, I prefer to sleep on the lower one, but usually you can't choose, and the upper one offers a bit more privacy.
After dropping off my backpack, I went into the city. And I must say: It is a really beautiful city, however I notice at the beginning that everything feels too loud and hectic for me. Well, Seville has about 700,000 inhabitants, plus many tourists. I walked through the city and immediately googled for a burger place and found one. Fortunately, there was still a free spot outside, and I enjoyed my truffle burger in a pretzel bun with fries in the sun. And I can really recommend this place. When asked how you would like your meat, you know you are in a proper burger place. The place is called Nickel Burger. You can choose between different types of buns as well as various kinds of fries. After that, I walked a bit more around the city and then returned to the hostel relatively early because I was tired from the day. I went briefly to the rooftop terrace, which has a breathtaking view. And then went to bed, looking forward to sleeping so much.
