The Cameron Highlands - Surrounded by tea plantations, a moss forest, and mountains.

We are in the year 1885. Sir William Cameron discovered the later named 'Cameron Highlands' during an expedition to map the border between Pahang and Perak. The region has been used for agriculture and tourism since then. It is beautiful and has caught our interest.

Similar to Georgetown, Tanah Rata (our town) is home to many culturally diverse people.

Malaysia can certainly be seen as a role model for peaceful coexistence of different cultures.

The headline already reveals what we did during our 4 days there. The Cameron Highlands are most likely known for their tea plantations. They stretch across the hills and mountains, creating a beautiful scenery.

To explore the area, we booked a jeep tour with a maximum of 8 people, which ended up being exactly that. We drove to the tea plantation and then went off-road to the starting point for our moss forest walk. The forest lives up to its name. The wood of some branches is often completely covered in moss. And we're talking about very thick layers of moss.

Another item on the tour program was a strawberry plantation. We can only explain this destination by assuming that Asians absolutely love local strawberries, because for Europeans, it's not a big highlight. We stood in front of the artificially created 'fields' and thought: 'Wow, a strawberry plantation! Good thing we didn't miss it!' Enough irony at this point. The fact was: after about a minute, we left the cultivation area to buy a pack of strawberries. At least they tasted pretty good.

We ended the tour with a visit to another tea plantation, where we had a cup of tea.

In the evenings, we usually ate Indian food. The selection here was much larger for Nadine than anywhere else. One restaurant followed another in our street. However, finding a good one was nearly impossible. So we regularly sat down at a 'plastic chair-restaurant-Indian'. But the food was very tasty.

We also met a nice mother-son duo. We hadn't come across this constellation on our trip before. But he was only visiting his mother for three weeks while she was traveling and had spent a longer time in India and Nepal. Among other things, she hiked the 'Annapurna Circuit'. Since Max had always wanted to go to the Himalayas, he listened with interest and made plans to hike this long-distance trail as well.

We would have loved to go hiking in the Cameron Highlands as well, but the weather didn't always cooperate, so we had to abandon this plan.

Our next destination in Malaysia is Kuala Lumpur, the capital city. You can be very excited about that!
