From Saigon, I traveled to Dalat which is located seven hours north. The city is situated in the mountains, so the climate is very pleasant. However, it doesn't look very Vietnamese visually.
I stayed in a beautiful little hostel where we had dinner together with all the guests every evening.
In Dalat, there is an artist who owns the 'Crazy House', a mix of a witch house, 'The Lord of the Rings' setting, and Gaudi architecture. The area consists of different buildings, and you can wander through winding corridors for hours and always discover something new. It's not just the heart of children that beats faster here! :-)
On one day, I participated in a so-called Easy Rider tour. We rode motorcycles through the beautiful surroundings of Dalat. My driver Hong and I visited a few temples, viewpoints, a coffee plantation, a silk and rice wine factory, and a waterfall. There are countless plantations around the city where fruits, vegetables, flowers, coffee, etc. are grown. A large part of the country is supplied from here. However, the highlight of the tour was definitely the stunning landscape! It started to rain on the way, but Hong was prepared, so I quickly got packed in a rain poncho, rain pants, and rubber boots. :-)
On my last evening here, I met Svenja again (she was the Swiss woman I met in Laos). She was on a bike tour from northern Vietnam to the south. It was a lovely evening, and I was glad to see a familiar face again!
