After a very quiet Saturday, two tourist highlights were on the program for Sunday - due to the heat, there wasn't enough time for more.
First, we went to the Castle of Good Hope. This is a fortress that was built between 1666 and 1679 and is the oldest European-designed, still original building in South Africa. There are various small exhibitions about the history of the city and its inhabitants to discover here.
Afterwards, I spent the afternoon in the Company Garden after a short lunch break. Here, van Riebeeck (founder of the Cape Colony) grew vegetables and fruits. Part of the grounds has now been converted into a botanical garden. There is a lot to discover here and the plants provide wonderful protection from the heat of the city.
