Hello everyone
Now a small final report after all. Tomorrow I will leave Canada and move to the USA. Vancouver Island was just amazing! Somehow I didn't have enough time to think about what exactly awaits me in Canada. But I am actually very enthusiastic overall.
The country is simply beautiful and so many people are just super friendly. The openness of the North Americans is also great for me. Because with my vehicle, I always end up in a conversation or we sit together for a while.
A little anecdote that impressed me. Fire ban is really something to take seriously. It was a fire ban and there was a guy who felt like it didn't apply to him. After about 15 minutes when the fire was burning, an older gentleman came by and said that it was on fire. The older gentleman started running when he saw that someone was making a fire, and about 5 minutes later, the campground host took him away. About 2 hours later, he was brought back by the police and had to pack his things along with his whole family...
What I also had to learn about logging roads is that you just quickly and as far as possible get out of the way of the truck driver (loaded with wood). I could hardly believe it, but those guys overtook me with a 5-axle truck (unloaded) on a logging road!!! The rest of the traffic in Canada is great... much more pleasant than in Switzerland :)! But you also have to say that there is much more space available.
The campgrounds or recreation sites (free or sometimes $15) are just amazing... If you don't have a sleeping spot about 20 meters from the water, you've done something wrong. :)
It was a great time here and let's see what the US has in store:) next destination is Tacoma Island and then Oregon Coast... probably a little detour to Leavenworth/Index for climbing.
Many greetings and I hope it's not too hot for you :)!!!
