We almost managed to visit the 'Great Mosque'. After inspecting the Terracotta Army and its warriors, we recovered from the fatigue and once again took a ride to the 'Great Mosque'. This time we knew where not to enter, so it was clear that we had to find our way through the maze of alleys.

In short, we were a little late and decided to stop for a meal halfway before it got too late. We went to a juice stand and enjoyed delicious skewers and rice.

Afterwards, we continued past silversmiths, nutcrackers, and 'Chinese substitute marks'. It was almost seven o'clock when we finally found the long-awaited place.

But the gates were almost closed and there was also the 'Asia's Largest Fountain Show' (according to the guidebook). So we strolled along the outer wall of the 'Great Mosque'.

A bit later than planned, we finally reached the 'Wild Goose Pagoda', another landmark of Xi'an. Here, the spectacular water spraying was supposed to take place on the square in front. The building itself also looked very interesting, another reason to come back.

Fortunately, the whole spectacle didn't start until 9:00 PM, an hour later than described in the rediscovered guidebook. You could tell that we were about 1000 km further west. China has only one time zone, and while it gets dark in Suzhou at 7:30 PM, it doesn't get dim here in Xi'an until 9:00 PM. Meanwhile, we enjoyed a couple of beers and
Philipp made friends with the locals, you could also say he caught the eye of a group of girls😉

The show was nice. For those who are planning to travel to Xi'an for a fountain show, I must say, go to Suzhou instead. There is a fountain show every Friday and Saturday on Jinji Lake, in front of the Suzhou Center. It's more worth seeing!
