After a slightly shorter night, we had to hurry this morning to be on the boat by 8 on time 😅. Fortunately, our accommodation was just a 2-minute walk from the harbor, which was very convenient for us.
The cold, windy, but very beautiful and idyllic boat ride lasted about 1.5 hours and took us from Vilanova de Arousa across the Ría de Arousa and later the Ría Ulla to Pontecesures.
Right at the beginning, we were woken up by the captain with a cheerful Spanish pilgrim song. After that, the background music ranged from Celine Dion to Abba to Celtic melodies.
Our highlight was the Titanic theme song, which naturally should not be missed on a boat trip 😂. Towards the end, the songs became a bit more cheerful, and to warm up a bit, we (somewhat) sang along and danced.🎵
Along the riverside, there were 12 crosses dedicated to the Apostle, placed along the route. The captain repeatedly pointed these out to us.
Upon arriving in Pontecesures, we first sat down in a café to warm up and have something to eat.
Then the actual running stage of today began, covering about 15 km. From Pontecesures, we headed to Padrón, where we had to weave our way through the crowds at the market. From there, we mostly walked on dirt paths, through small villages, and finally along a beautiful forest path to the Albergue in O Faramello.
There, the innkeeper made us a large portion of tortilla - very delicious! 🙂 Afterward, we showered and are now all relaxing a bit. Tonight, we will probably go out to eat again, and tomorrow the very last stage is on the agenda - hard to believe! 🙈
Santiago here we come :)
