Ayvar das schön :-)

Басылган: 16.05.2017

This heading simply fits the last four days.

The time here in the Kamp Palme (Kuciste) is simply awesome, the weather breathtaking, and our dinner consists of 90% Ayvar. This is also known in Germany. But this one here is simply much better: whole pieces of bell pepper and then wonderfully seasoned. Just writing about it makes my mouth water. Absolutely amazing!

The last few days we have spent a lot of time chilling and chilling and chilling and eating and chilling and reading and sleeping. As Tina already wrote: Just doing nothing.

But then yesterday, 15.05., we went to the neighboring island Kocula. There is a small old town there that is really worth seeing. But here too, we are still waiting for the tourist rush. The legend goes that Marco Polo was born here in the town Kocula. This is pointed out at every corner; his birthplace is mentioned in the travel guide. We saw a few Chinese people again, but Hannes didn't notice them ;-) So we got away with it :-D

Since we had to take the bus to get to the passenger ferry (three kilometers on the road are just stupid) we used the afternoon to drive to the northernmost point of the island (Loviste). On the way there, we passed an impressive viewpoint. We had to enjoy this sight for a while. Loviste was also deserted ;-)

Since we like it here so much, we decided to stay one more day. Today, for the first time since we've been here, we had offshore wind (that's wind blowing from the land towards the sea). It was blowing quite hard and shaking our awning. But everything held up well. The wind was nice and warm and we could still go outside.

Now it's siesta time. As it is so warm, Hannes is sleeping in his stroller in the shade; it's just unbearable in the roof tent. We have 31°C in the bus and around 34°C in the roof tent. No one can sleep in that. But it cools down nicely in the evening.

Tomorrow (17.05.) we will pack our things and head north after all. Our plan is to drive to the vicinity of Sibenik to visit the Krka National Park. There are some filming locations for the Winnetou movies and I'm looking forward to visiting the places of my childhood stars.

If I interpret the weather radar correctly, it will remain summery and warm at around 25°C.

At this point, I would like to thank two people who make our camping so enjoyable:

First, Andreas, our friend from Wolfhagen. He equipped us with an awning, roof rack, roof box, and other valuable utensils. That's just fantastic, especially since he made everything himself (except for the roof box). Thank you very much!

And secondly, my dad, who came up with the brilliant idea of giving us a knife shortly before we left. The knife could also be used by Rambo; it can do everything and cuts through any piece, whether hard or soft, effortlessly. Thank you for that too!

And of course, there is another anecdote to tell here:

If you leave your shoes outside the bus at night, you should just take a look inside in the morning before you put your feet in. I will definitely do that from now on because yesterday, when I put my foot in, something tickled my big toe. I didn't think anything bad of it and confidently reached into the shoe. It also felt quite good, what was inside, until I saw it: a huge worm (maybe even a millipede)... Both the worm and I came out of it without any lasting damage.
