19th September 2020. We set off early in Kiel because we need to go to the hardware store again. Last night we noticed that the sliding windows of Beppo can easily be pushed open from the outside. So we are looking for hooks or wedges to block the windows from the inside. Around mid-morning, we head to the Grüner Jäger to take a shower.
The sun is shining again. At a pleasant 18°C, we set up the clothesline at the back of Beppo to dry the wet clothes. In the meantime, we enjoy a coffee in the café of the Grüner Jäger, enjoying the beautiful Frisian scenery.
Fresh and caffeinated, we head towards Denmark. We decide to take the next 150km on the country road. With less traffic and a more beautiful scenery, the country road offers us a more pleasant travel experience than the highway. The engine noise is also more bearable at 70km/h than beyond 85km/h. The optimal traveling speed with Beppo is therefore 80km/h.
The route we take stretches over long stretches through fields and past scattered farms. The Beatles, Scott McKenzie, and Ben E. King are playing from the speakers. Our thoughts are already on the way to Woodstock.
Small towns await us at the border, reminiscent of our model buildings from the computer Sims game and seemingly uninhabited.
The image of the Danish roads resembles, in its cleanliness and tranquility, a slightly oversized German campsite.
In the evening, we reach our accommodation for the night. Near the small town of Vester Vedsted, there is a beach car park right behind the dike, close to the sea. With a dreamlike scenery, we have a pumpkin stew and a cold beer. While the sun is setting in the sea, we listen to music and philosophize about our day.
The next morning, the 20th of September 2020, the water supply needs to be emptied and refilled. In the nearest town of Ribe, we find a fresh water and disposal station, right next to a fairground.
No bigger than a fair or shooting festival grounds, bumper cars, a flying carpet, and a claw machine extend over the nearby meadow. The Danes are more relaxed about their Corona measures than we are in Germany. Due to the low number of visitors, the safety distance can also be maintained.
We decide to continue driving north. In the town of Holstebro, we stop for a coffee and take the opportunity to charge our laptop.
At around 4:30 pm, we find our way back to Beppo and continue the route north.
In Klitmoller, we park between the dunes for the following night. In the evening, we walk along the beach and watch the sunset. After a fresh salad with porcini tortellini, we go to bed. The next day is expected to be a bit stormy.
