Chitwan Nat. Park - Kathmandu - BHAKTAPUR - Patan - Poon Hill
Bhaktapur, a traditional town near Kathmandu. With its cobbled paths and red brick houses adorned with wooden doors and windows, it led us into its bustling old town. Everyone was singing, dancing, and playing music. Almost all women and men were walking in traditional attire in smaller groups from temple to temple, offering their prayers there, sanctifying the place, and welcoming the year 2075. Initially, we thought they would only make one round, but throughout the day, we realized that they were doing it all day long. This was very interesting but also very loud. Luckily, the town had many alleyways where we could escape and explore at the same time. For example, we got a glimpse of how people lived in their homes or how they were rebuilding their city. Because even in Bhaktapur, we can see many damages from the earthquake.
I (Emely) liked it very much that the residents had a system for the free-roaming dogs. They vaccinate and sterilize the dogs and mark them with a collar and/or a missing ear tip.
It was interesting to explore a smaller historic town in Nepal and we are already looking forward to Patan.
