Heads in the clouds🏔

The weather forecast proved true, and after breakfast we felt ready to conquer Ben Nevis.

As the highest mountain in Britain at 1345m, it may not be a giant by our standards, but it's quite impressive for an island. And you begin the ascent from almost sea level.

So, despite the good weather, we set off with all our gear.

The panorama was overwhelming. Although we had zero visibility at the summit, like about 300 days a year, we made it to the top. Many hikers have to turn back due to unpredictable weather. Luckily, we were fortunate today, and it more than made up for the canceled steam train ride.

After the obligatory summit photo, we hiked back down.

It was quite chilly at the top.

The descent was almost more challenging than the ascent. Lots of loose gravel. But we made it down safely. It took us 7 hours and 9 minutes (including panoramic breaks) to cover the nearly 15km.

Another amazing experience.

We rounded off the evening in the Ben Nevis Pub.

Tomorrow, we'll head back to Glasgow, but before that, we want to visit the Glenfinnan Viaduct and make a stop in Glencoe.
