Medina Labyrinth

Part of our travel group has already moved on this morning. Arshiya and I went for breakfast first. Shortly afterwards, Henry arrived with Nora and Chaymae's uncle by chance. The uncle seems to owe something to several cafe owners, because we don't have to pay for breakfast, tea, and coffee today.

Afterwards, we explore the Medina on our own. A few years ago, the tourism authority marked a few walking tours on various topics with signs. We will follow the red signs for now. However, we still get lost from time to time or discover something interesting in a different alley. A Medina tour in Fes is never boring. We have been warned by many people about many scammers. You often get a supposedly free city tour or offered help and in the end, you are forced to give a high tip. I don't know if it's because of us or the day, but we are spared unnecessary discussions and can quickly get rid of annoying individuals without any problems. We have seen everything we wanted to see. For example, the leather tannery - a highlight in Fes. In general, it is a city for craftsmanship. So we had a really nice day with only good encounters and a lot of fun bargaining.

We actually wanted to continue our journey in the evening, but we postponed it to tomorrow. It's just too nice here with Nora and Chaymae, and Fes is great too. If there weren't so many other things to do and see in Morocco, I would stay here for another week.

In the evening, I help Nora prepare Tajine, a typical Moroccan dish. Tajine is actually the name of the pot or container. Vegetables and/or meat are then arranged and slowly cooked in it. It tastes delicious!
