In the morning, I got up shortly after six to watch the sunrise on Sunrise Beach. Really spectacular light so early in the morning and not nearly as many people as at sunset. But first, breakfast had to be caught up on and then to start the day strengthened. This day had a snorkeling tour to the neighboring islands in store.
At 9, just under 50 people gathered on the beach, who were distributed in groups of 6 on the long-tail boats. Afterwards, all the boats set off in a long caravan to the first diving spot. It was a rock rising from the sea, reaching from a depth of 16 meters to just below the surface. Unfortunately, the water was very dirty due to the strong wind and currents, so there was little to see of the corals while swimming out on the open sea. However, the large schools of fish swimming among the many tourists and showing no signs of shyness were quite impressive. It was also an interesting experience to go swimming in the middle of the sea from the boat.
The next stop before lunch was a coral reef in the lagoon in front of a small island. There, we could discover many more marine inhabitants. After thoroughly exploring the surroundings, our boat driver took us to another island, where we moored next to around 20 other boats and enjoyed lunch. Fried rice with vegetables and chicken.
The last stop of the day took us to the island of Koh Adang, where we anchored in front of the beach and could snorkel and swim from the boat. I liked this place the best because the water was very clear and the corals were in their full splendor. To finish off, we had fresh fruits and a relaxed ride back.
The many hours in the sun and physical exertion made themselves felt, so I had to recover first. For that, I went to the pool to relax in the shade and read. There I also met Luuk, with whom I had arranged to have dinner. With two other friends, we went on to a bar called Elefant after traditional Thai dinner - Pad Thai.
There we enjoyed the wonderful warm summer air, drinks, and live music, until it was time to go to bed at 12, as the day was tiring and my ferry leaves tomorrow at 8:30.
